Welcome to the ITN 1955 CLUB web site. It presents a great opportunity for the exchange of views and, with members taking part in the forum and contributing to the picture galleries, it will be a source of entertainment to all. Please use the site and make any suggestion that you may have on its content. I should like to make it clear that this website is not meant in any way to replace the monthly Newsletter, but to be in addition to it. I hope you will all join me when we celebrate the ITN 1955 club's 21st birthday on 30th October at the House of Commons.
John Copleston (Chairman)
I
We have reached capacity
for the House of Commons Lunch. Any applications
received
from now on will be placed on a waiting list.
Would those who have sent in
application forms but have not yet sent a cheque please do so a.s.a.p, enclosing
a s.a.e. Without a cheque we cannot hold a place.
For those
who have already
sent a cheque but who did not include a s.a.e. with their application,
it would help our finances (particularly in view of the next paragraph)
if they could send me one.
I am still awaiting the Menu
from the HoC but I had a call last week informing me that the minimum
charge per person had been increased by some £15. The wine has also
increased. This is due to Government cut-backs and the Banqueting office
have been told to raise their prices.
As you may know, the
Club was already subsidising the cost of the Lunch
and rather
than disappoint everyone by trying to change the venue
or asking
for more money, the Club has decided to bear the cost of the increase.
Your official
invitation card will be sent out to you in September,
once it has been approved by the HoC. The cost is £25 for a member and
£30 for a guest. If you are bringing a guest I need to know their name.
I also need to know if you have special dietary requirements - i.e.
vegetarian, or no meat but could eat chicken or fish. We do not yet
have the new Menu from the HoC Banqueting Office so I am unable at this
stage to tell you what the meal will be. Also if anyone with a
disability is planning to come by car, I need to know the make, colour
and registration number of the vehicle plus the name of the driver and
passenger.
I have included the following link which gives details of what to
expect when you arrive at the Houses of Parliament. http://www.parliament.uk/visiting/access/events/
If you have any questions please email me. My e-mail address is on the back of any Newsletter. Pauline Heard
